At Microworkers, we continuously improve our platform to help Employers automate their workflows while keeping their accounts secure. Today, we’re introducing several enhancements to our API management system that strengthen account security and provide greater flexibility for businesses using API integrations.
Enhanced Protection for Your API Credentials
Your API and VCode keys are among the most sensitive credentials in your Microworkers account. These keys allow external applications and systems to communicate securely with our platform, making it essential to protect them from unauthorized access.
API and VCode Keys Are No Longer Displayed as Plain Text
As part of today’s security enhancements, API and VCode keys are no longer shown as plain text on the Account page.
Instead, both keys remain hidden by default. When you need to view either key, simply click the “Show” link beside the API Secret Key or VCODE Secret Key.
After clicking the “Show” link, you will be prompted to complete the required verification before your key is temporarily displayed. This provides an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access to your API credentials.
This change helps prevent accidental exposure of sensitive credentials while still allowing you to access them quickly and conveniently whenever needed.
By keeping these security keys hidden until you explicitly choose to reveal them, Microworkers provides an extra layer of protection against unauthorized viewing.
Easily Generate New API and VCode Keys
In addition to securely viewing your existing API and VCode keys, you can now generate a new set of credentials directly from your account whenever needed.
When you click “Show” to view your API Secret Key or VCode Secret Key, you’ll also see the option to generate a new set of credentials.
If you believe your API or VCode keys have been exposed or compromised, simply regenerate them to immediately invalidate the old keys and replace them with new ones. This allows you to quickly secure your API integrations without contacting support.
This feature is useful if you:
- Accidentally shared your credentials.
- Suspect a server or application using your API keys has been compromised.
- Want to rotate your credentials as part of your organization’s security policy.
Regularly regenerating API credentials is a recommended security best practice that helps keep your integrations protected.
Lock API Calls to Multiple IP Addresses
We’re also excited to introduce another API enhancement designed to make your integrations even more flexible and secure.
For enhanced security, Microworkers allows you to lock API calls so they can only be executed from your authorized server IP address(es). Locking API calls to specific IP addresses is highly recommended, as it helps prevent unauthorized servers from using your API credentials.
Previously, only a single IP address could be specified. Starting today, you can lock API calls to multiple IP addresses, making it easier to support applications running across multiple servers, cloud environments, production and backup systems, or other distributed infrastructures.
With support for multiple authorized IP addresses, you can maintain strong API security while ensuring your integrations continue to operate seamlessly across all of your trusted servers.
Our Commitment
With today’s updates, Employers benefit from:
- Better protection of sensitive API and VCode credentials.
- The ability to regenerate credentials whenever necessary.
- Support for multiple whitelisted IP addresses for more flexible server deployments.
These enhancements make it easier to automate your workflows while keeping your Microworkers account secure.
As always, we’re committed to continuously improving the Microworkers platform. We look forward to bringing you more useful enhancements in the future. 😉
